STORASOL SMALL POWER-TO-HEAT MODUL​

PtH Modul

The new STORASOL Small Power-to-Heat Modul (S-PtH module)—designed for the cost-effective utilization of surplus electricity from PV systems and flexible electricity tariffs—is currently in the testing phase.

With STORASOL’s power-to-heat modules, surplus electricity can be converted into high-temperature heat (> 500°C) with maximum efficiency levels exceeding 97%. This heat is then stored in the storage material silica sand —a storage medium that makes sense from both ecological and technical perspectives. The sand is arranged in innovative storage layers; consequently, this high-temperature heat storage system is often referred to as a sand storage system .

The stored heat can be retrieved at any time. The discharge temperature is adjustable, allowing heat to be supplied at the desired temperature level. Whether it is hot water for a large household, process air—such as at 450°C—for preheating industrial furnaces, or the rapid heating of large halls, the S-PtH module enables these applications without the use of natural gas.

It is particularly attractive when used in conjunction with a larger PV system and flexible electricity tariffs: the S-PtH module specifically utilizes surplus electricity or charges whenever the market electricity price drops below a predefined level. ➔ Each time it is used, natural gas or oil is saved and CO₂ emissions are reduced.

Controlling the S-PtH module is very simple: either via a control panel directly on the S-PtH module or via an app on your mobile phone or PC.

The S-PtH module consists of environmentally benign materials; alongside simple quartz sand, these are essentially steel and insulation material. In this way, this storage technology also reduces dependence on rare earth elements.

The S-PtH module is suitable for indoor and outdoor installation .

The first field tests with selected customers will begin in the coming months. Following this test phase, the PtH modules will be available for purchase.

The S-PtH module is available in the following sizes, but can be customized to other sizes upon request.
